THE RIGHTEOUS
A sound adaptation of the play Les Justes by Albert Camus, first performed on December 15, 1949 in Paris.
"The Just" is a play written by Albert Camus, inspired by true historical events. It depicts a group of Russian socialist revolutionaries who plan the assassination of Grand Duke Serge, the brother of Tsar Alexander III, in 1905. These revolutionaries, although aware of the consequences of their action, justify their act as a necessary means to promote social and political justice in Russia.
"The Righteous" deeply explores the universal themes of individual responsibility, morality, justice, loyalty and sacrifice.
Through the prism of the revolutionary struggle in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century, the play confronts us with the ethical and moral dilemmas faced by its characters and which we find in our contemporary society.
